Serving the Masai in Kenya in Dec. 2009!

Thirty volunteers are leaving for Kenya on December 17th to build an addition onto the previously built medical clinic for the Masai.

Medical teams will also be treating malaria, typhoid and other sicknesses in addition to holding a vision clinic and prescribing glasses thanks to Dr. Shepherd of Enumclaw Family Optometry.

Masai and the Black Rhino

Here is an interesting video about how young Masai Warriors pits their wits against an ancient and worthy adversary - the Black Rhino.

The Masai Tribe is quite a peaceful tribe and do not even hunt the wild game around them but rather live in harmony with them, tending their flocks of goats and cows amoung various wild animals from the age of 8 years.

Time to Sign Up for Kenya 2009 Trips

We are now scheduling return trips to the Masai Mara, Kenya. One trip is planned for March 2009, and the other is planned for December. This is a great trip for volunteers of all ages and all are encouraged to apply. This is an unforgetable experience and a great way to give of your time. March 2008, Masai Mara Humanitarian Project

We would like to thank all who gave and all who participated in our Kenya 2008 project. Thanks to you, our trip to the Masai Mara was a complete success. We built an extension to the Olopikidong'oe school and held a medical clinic where the Doctor and his assistants treated the locals for malaria, typhoid, and dysentery. We also erected a windmill for power and distributed much needed school supplies and held a program for over 600 children.

Our group this time consisted of 32 individuals comprised of half adults and half students. The benefit of taking students is that you not only change the life of the people you are going to serve, but you also impact the world view of each student thereby making them more aware and willing to give back as they grow into responsible adults.
