Pakistan Updates:

Serving Others Worldwide has an update on the girl in Pakistan who has the neck thyroid problem. After raising the needed money to get her to a medical facility, the doctor says she must take medicines for one month to recover from breath and lung problems. She will then be given more tests and they will decide about surgery.
She is an abnormal child but she can feel some one is taking care of her and wants her to be healthy like other normal children. She cannot understand medical process but she can understand love which is being shown to make her healthy. I wish you were here to see her expression when she was told about the surgery. She is happy for this all.
Thank you very much for your prayers and love for this girl. He parents are thankful to you for all that you are doing for her.

Other updates from our projects in Pakistan are as follows:

Medical CampThe area where we set up our medical camp and food distribution was affected by the flood. This area badly damaged houses collapsed. Only a few houses remain standing but can’t be lived in.
Water is drying out but people are still fighting with many problems. Big organizations are working in Pakistan but are only working in areas where they can get media attention to get publicity for more donations for flood victims. They are ignoring small villages. We have done our work in areas that are ignored.

After flooding, the next challenge that people have to face is health problems. This has already started, as many people are getting sick with cholera, diarrhea, ophthalmia, boils, and other skin diseases.

We held this medical camp for these people to save them from these diseases and we provided them medicine and clean water to drink. We arranged for a doctor who did check-ups and prescribed some medicine. He also gave them some safety measures to avoid different diseases from becoming epidemic.
In our medical camp we treated 30 people including children and gave them medicine to get relief.
SchoolIt is closed now for summer vocation but we are providing holdingfor children.
Out ReachWe are reaching out to impoverished families and underpriviledged children on a regular bases through our local workers who help us bring hope to the hopeless on a daily basis.
Sewing SchoolIt is doing well; new students are coming in to attend classes.
Work with HomelessSome homeless people have come to fill the space because last month some homeless families left. Other people are still learning.

Please continue to help us help others by supporting our continued programs around the world.

Please help save this Pakistani girl's life!

Serving Others Worldwide operations in Pakistan have sent an urgent request for a girl who has a neck thyroid problem and is in great pain. This has gone on for so long that now even breathing is difficult for her. She is also now having blood deficiency problems, as the growth is taking so much blood. She is almost 18 years old.

She will be in danger due to these thyroids if not treated immediately. She can not sleep well because these glands are heavy on her neck and the Doctor says she needs major surgery. This can be done in any major city hospital where all medical facilities are available. Her life should be saved but her parents are poor and can’t afford this big operation.

Please help us ensure this girl gets treatment by donating money for her surgery. Please help us safe her life!

Bringing Hope to Orphans in Pakistan!

Children in Pakistan face a variety of serious challenges ranging from malnutrition and poor access to education and health facilities to exploitation in the form of child labor. Their low status in society can leave them victim to daily violence at home and in school as well as to organized trafficking and sexual exploitation.

This Christmas we are launching a program to give gifts to widows, orphans and needy children in Western Pakistan. We know many families which have no food and clothes and are having difficulty providing for their children.

If you can donate to help it will be blessing for them during this Christmas time. You can make a positive change in their life on this Christmas. Bring a smile on their faces and show them God's love this Christmas.

For one family we only need:

Rice ………….....2 KG…….225 Rs...$2.81
Sugar…………...3 KG…….129 Rs....$1.61
Flour ……….....20 KG…….500 Rs...$6.25
Cooking Oil…..2 Liter….240 Rs....$3.00
Tea Bags..... 2 Pack…..120 Rs....$1.50
Bath Soap…..3 Tickey..120 Rs....$1.50Total Amount...... 1334 Rs..$16.67
We need $16.67 for one family to provide them food for 15-20 days this Christmas. That is only $1 a day to make an incredible change in someone's life!

Group Serving Russian Orphans Returns

Twelve volunteer’s from humanitarian aid organization Serving Others Worldwide returned to Seattle after helping orphans in Southwest Russia. These volunteer’s and their supporters represent the selfless humanitarian focus of many individuals and companies throughout the U.S. Much thanks goes to all the families and friends in support of these volunteers!

The focus of their trip was to visit the orphans and orphanages being sponsored and assist in developing new programs for older orphan graduates leaving the orphanages seeking higher education and to become productive members of our world society. Volunteers established child sponsorships, supplied educational materials and clothing, and provided programs for children to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.

Serving Others Worldwide helps Local Communities!

Serving Others Worldwide would like to commend it's local project coordinator, Angela Anacker for going above and beyond the call of duty and organizing a group of volunteer's to help bring joy to her local woman's shelter just after she returned as a volunteer with Serving Others Worldwide in Southwest Kenya working with us to build a birthing center for the Masai tribe.

Angela says, "Going to Africa with Serving Others Worldwide helped me realize how important it is to be involved in actively serving others, whether here in the States or abroad. I can't wait to organize more projects here locally through this great organization and give others that same opportunity to volunteer on projects that impact people's lives for the better and be a part of Serving Others Worldwide!"

Angela's next project for Serving Others Worldwide is currently gathering volunteers for a Habitat for Humanity building project in Tacoma, June 20th 8:45am-3pm. To sign up to join her in this effort, email her at angela@servingothers.org

Executive Director, Isaac Heckman invites everyone to get more involved in serving our world family in need and says, "Much of the work we do focuses on improving the quality of life for families around the world. Weather building homes, schools, orphanages, or medical clinics our desire is to build relationships... and while promoting education, health and well-being, most of all we are sowing seeds of love through the example selfless service!"

Help us help orphans in Russia!

Serving Others Worldwide is promoting a program called Alone No More and planning to take a group of volunteers to Kursk, Russia in September 2009 to help 8 different orphanages.

There are more than 1 million orphans and homeless children in Russia. Statistics show that if these children are not helped that only 1 out of 10 orphans becomes a functional member of society!

If you have a burden for making a difference in young lives, this is a great cause to give to. The Bible defines true religion, "pure and undefiled in the sight of God, to look after widows and orphans in their time of need." With Serving Others Worldwide's - Alone No More programs we are truly looking after these orphans in their "time of need" and can make possible for them the hope of a stronger future.

You can donate to this cause by going to our website at http://www.servingothers.org/make and donating to "Russia Orphans"!

Stay informed and keep up on our other programs through our blog!

Serving Others Worldwide receives large donation from Crocs!

When we found out that the majority of poor children and adults get worms just because they do not have shoes, we thought, “We can fix that!” And now with the innovative creation of the rubber Croc shoe and their willing participation through SolesUnited we are able to give a quality product that will breathe without socks, will not break down in the water during monsoon season, and will protect feet from injury and worms.

The Crocs company has donated to Serving Others Worldwide hundreds of crocs that we can take on our projects to give to the locals and schoolchildren we serve.

Thank you Crocs and Soles United for helping us meet this very important need!

Sponsor a Child from Ethiopia

During our recent trip to Ethiopia to plan a future school building project, we met many remote village children who would like to be educated but cannot afford it.

We decided to start a child sponsorship program where you can help provide education for only $20 a month. This small amount will really make a difference and can change a child's future!

Please visit our home page at http://www.servingothers.org/ where pictures of these children are being presented and click on the picture to select and sponsor the special student of your choice.

Masai and the Black Rhino

Here is an interesting video about how young Masai Warriors pits their wits against an ancient and worthy adversary - the Black Rhino.

The Masai Tribe is quite a peaceful tribe and do not even hunt the wild game around them but rather live in harmony with them, tending their flocks of goats and cows amoung various wild animals from the age of 8 years.

If you are interested in learning more about the Masai, consider applying as a volunteer for one of our trips the Masai Mara in Kenya. You can visit our Kenya volunteer sign-up website at: www.ServingOthers.org/Kenya2009.html

Land grant from Ethiopia!

In response to Serving Others Worldwide's request to build a school and assist in humanitarian aid to those suffering with famine in southern Ethiopia, we have received notice that the Ethiopian government has agreed to donate 10,000 square meters of land in rural Hadero, free of charge, for us to build an eight room elementary school and use as a base to help those in need.

This is an amazing confirmation that we are to step out in faith and do all we can to accomplish this mission as soon as possible. The cost for the materials of an eight room school building and food relief is $60,000. This is where you come in! We need all who are able to donate to this project so that we can accomplish all that we have offered to the Ethiopian locals. We also need all able bodied volunteers to email us their interest in going to construct the building and distribute the food. Email us at helpus@servingothers.org

Below is a short video on the situation there in Hadero:
